Bosch 4000 table saw review
73If you want a brief review I could tell you that the Bosch 4000 table saw is an excellent product and if you're serious about carpentry and home improvement you should probably buy it.
But let's see how it compares to to other portable table saws such as the Makita saw I reviewed last time.
The first thing you need to know is probably the price, because this is considerably more expensive that the Makita one. While prices vary depending on where you buy it the Makita table saw will be in the 500-700 price range while the Bosch one is in the 1500-2000 range. With the price difference so steep it is important to know what you're paying for. (BTW both are 10" inch worksite table saws and both could be considered portable.)
This table saw is ready to go out of the box, just unpack it and you're set to start cutting. An excellent choice for the worksite or small shop. All its parts are good, the fence, miter gauge and its extension of the right table are of excellent quality, there really isn't much to say about this product other than it runs very smoothly and just as the Makita table saw it gets the job done. You can do anything with this, the only drawback as with every portable table saw is that it's very noisy, but if you're into power tools, you probably needn't be told that.
One of the better aspects of this table saw is its stand, it's very solid and you can fold it and unfold it as you need so it's easy to move around.
This is a 10" table saw but as I mentioned earlier with its extension it can be expanded to cut 20 inches, the table surface is large enough to comfortably do any job.
Both table saws the Makita 2708 and 2704 and Bosch 4000 are very good products, so let's talk frankly, why the steep difference in price?
First the stand, with the Bosch it's way easier to unfold and move around and it's overall more solid, the Makita stand is good but this one is better.
Other than that the Bosch table saw has a wider range of parts and accessories and should you need some spare parts, they are more widely available. But really if you're looking for a table saw that gets the job done you should stick to the Makita, if you need more customization, probably should try the Bosch one. It all depends on your needs.
BTW, this is a review is of the Bosch 4000-9 table saw which I think is now obsolete is replacement is the Bosch 4100-9 which should be as good, there currently is a $600 discount on Amazon on this model, but it should promptly be raised again to its $1200 price.
