Which are the best table saw fences?

In some of my previous hubs I have been reviewing some of the best table saws, but as any good woodworker knows sometimes even the best table saw can produce bad results if your fence is of low quality, this part is probably the second most important after the table saw itself.

So if you have decided to invest in a high quality, once in a lifetime table saw, the best you can do is to equip it with the best fence you can, you don't want your expensive table saw perform badly due to a cheap fence.

So let's have a look at some table saw rip fence offerings on the market.

The first one comes from one of the most popular brands, it is the Incra LS32-TS 32 Table Saw Fence System. As it's name indicates this is not just a simple fence, it's a table saw fence system.

It is a system because the technology may be even more advanced than that of the table saw itself, more than a fence it's an automatic positioning system. Traditionally you just have to go by eyesight and the measurement marks on the fence or your own measuring tape, this means that for the newbies, woodwork becomes a frustrating task trying to find the measurement; if you just want to make some simple shelves there won't be any problem, but for more refined woodwork this can turn into a nightmare. Even the most experience woodworkers can't work with the precision this table saw fence allows which works at a precision of about 0.002 of an inch.

The price though is a bit high as it was to be expected but it is something worth it as it essentially saves you a lot of work.

This fence will fit in most commercial 10 inch table saws. With this you will never have to buy a replacement fence and even if you upgrade your table saw it will adapt to the new one easily so it is a very wise investment for the serious woodworker.

Another one worth mentioning is the Biesemeyer table saw fence, it is another high quality fence but at around the same price as the Incra, probably it's not worth the cost because even if it fits nicely in your table saw, and it allows for a very solid and precise work, the automatic positioning system is hard to beat.
